By India Today Sports Desk: India handed a debut to two youngsters in the Test format in the first Test match against West Indies in the new World Test Championship cycle. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan were donned with the Indian cap ahead of the day's play in the first Test match.
All eyes were on 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal who was coming off a prolific Indian Premier League and domestic cricket season. Jaiswal was Rajasthan Royals' best batter in the 2023 edition of the tournament, hitting 625 runs from 14 matches at the average of 48.08. The batter proved that he was not an one-format player, scoring a truckload of runs in the domestic arena. In fact, Jaiswal after playing 15 first class matches, averages a prolific 80.21 with 1845 runs to his name.
